PROFILE

Ciriaca+Erre’s work is a radical act that weaves together life, art, philosophy, anthropology, activism and spirituality, transforming existence into a liminal experience between the visible and invisible, silence and sound, presence and absence.

In 2022 for two years, two months and two days, Her walking body became a living manifesto for Peace and the Planet. She crossed five continents: from the cave of Matera to those in Africa, where Homo sapiens survived the ice age; venturing deep into Amazon rainforest with Indigenous communities ; walking through Japan for the 78th anniversary of Nagasaki and Hiroshima and into the radioactive zone of Fukushima In protest against the release of contaminated water; Reaching a remote village in China to meet the last matriarchal communities on Earth —and more.

A journey in search of ancestral knowledge, HumanKIND and an urgent reconnection with Mother Earth.

Her artistic practice explores limits, fears and life itself, Merging visual research and a poetic civil disobedience.
She has lived with Japanese Buddhist monks, documented women still condemned as witches in Africa, and filmed Tibetan monks and prisoner in jail — bringing attention to human rights violation in the Italian penitentiary sistem.

Art becomes both resistance and revelation: 366 hours of silence, the gift of the self, the let it go of material possessions as an act of creation.

in her work the Human microcosm reflects the macrocosm: everything is connected, everything is One.

Today, she remains nomadic — questioning, travelling, experiencing — letting life itself become a work of art.
